Show us where you live Friday

Well, Today is Friday, which means Kelly is doing her "Show Us Where You Live" Blog train. Since today is Nursery/Kid Room day and I don't have children, heck I'm not even married. I will give you a glimpse into some of the ideas I have thought I might like when I have kids one day....now I am sure this will change, but what girl does not think about these things....

For a girl:
I am a big black and white fan, so I think I would like a black and white nursery with baby pink accents. I definitely want black furniture for either a boy or a girl. So, if I am not being practical, I absolutely LOVE round cribs. Again, this is not practical at all, but I would love something like this:

But if I am being practical, I would go for something like this:

I would like to decorate with black and white pictures, and a black and white vase with pink cala lilies! I also have my very first pair of pink ballet shoes that I would like to frame in a shadow box!

For a boy:
I would go with the same type furniture and do blue and green or maybe red. Still the black and white pictures and theme.
I would also have to add some sort of frog something in either room (something that would match) because I LOVE frogs and they are somewhere in every room of my house now! Well, hope you enjoyed my ideas, sorry I don't have much for ya, it is hard when you don't have kids! HA! :) Happy Friday! Go visit Kelly's Blog for more pictures of other rooms!!

Every week should be like that....

Well, sorry for the long blog hiatus....I have been enjoying the time off! Last week was, as you know, Memorial Day. I was fortunate enough to have been given Friday off and had a glorious 4 day weekend!

I had no idea what to do with all of the time off....it was marvelous! I am an early riser (when I don't have to go to work) and ended up getting up early on my first of four days off and cleaning my whole house! (I am talking deep cleaning, as in floors, baseboards, everything). My house was spotless my 2 pm on Friday. Since this was my only thing to do for the whole 4 days off, I still had 3 more days to plan. So, I decided to go visit my family and not spend the weekend doing nothing! It was nice, I even got to spend a little time in Nashville. But then as with most things, all good things must end.

It was back to reality and the grind on Tuesday, But, I must say, I am so glad that this is a short week, because it has pretty much FLOWN by! Tomorrow brings another weekend. Although this one is another one with no definite plans, I will probably end up back in the Rocket City with family and great friends. Oh and maybe one Aussie, Keith Urban! :) I probably won't go to the concert like the rest of the fam, I will have to entertain myself otherwise, but I am sure that there will still be a good time had. Because a trip to Huntsville, especially the ones of late, have been nothing short of VERY eventful and rewarding! :)

So, here's to a great weekend! Enjoy it! We aren't guranteed another!

I Like to Move It!

I began this year with a resolution to get healthy and start working out more! At the beginning of the year I did a 5-week boot camp in town. It was outside 3 days a week rain or shine, cold or coldest. Even though after the first week I thought I was going to have to sleep in my car (because I could not convince any of the limbs on my body to carry me upstairs), it was well worth it and I enjoyed the results! I even continued my getting healthy and fit kick by doing some exercise classes like Zumba!

Well, today, I purchased Active for my Wii and I have never wanted to leave work and go home to workout so bad in my life! I am so excited to see what happens. Active is a "personal training" type workout that has the interactive components from the Wii that allows you to track your progress and increase your workout intensity and other elements. It also includes a 30-day challenge that I am excited to try. I will keep you updated on my journey!

Here's to hoping that I can keep the weight I have on my driver's license (that I have actually had since I was 16) and NOT be lying. HA!

P.S. - If you are having a bad day and need a pick me up, go look at these, which will bring a smile to your face!

The Bachelorette

I have lots to write "aboot" today! First regarding Jillian as the new bachelorette...I like her, I really do. However, I found it so hard to watch all of the guys! None of them really stood out in a good way, only the bad ones! Maybe it is just because it is the weird first night goofiness, but come on? Some of these guys are a little beyond weird!

Here is a highlight on the ones I didn't much care for:
1. Brian: He is from Atlanta (but grew up in Alabama, unfortunately). Anyway, he made a point to let Jillian know that he was from Alabama, and "we have trailor parks and all that, that is how we roll." Seriously? Are you going to go on national television trying to impress a girl, and talk about the types of residences that are found in your state? Can't you think of something else to say to her when the guy on her other side is talking about Paris?? He must not "parlez vous francais." and only speaks dumb butt redneck from Alabama. (Thankfully he didn't get a rose.)
2. Tanner P.: He grossed me out from the moment I saw the preshow highlights about him and his foot fetish. DIS-GUS-TING!! Oh! my! good! ness! This is so gross, you should have been not allowed on the show. Don't they screen these people?? He is CURAZY (and he may be gay)!!! I may be partial because I once had a crazy man ask to see my toes once when I was younger and it has scarred me for life and I HATE FEET! (Unfortunately, this crazy got a rose.)

Well, as much as I didn't think I would watch, I did. I better get more into it or I won't be watching it for long this season. And the guys better start stepping it up, there are no stand-outs just yet!

Dance as though no one is watching.....

So, Sunday was Mother's day, and since I don't live near my family, we celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday! My mom and I did what all mothers and daughters do...shop and eat! :) Seriously, it was a good day, I think she enjoyed it! (I know I did)
On Mother's Day, Sunday, I took the time to enjoy the day and being lazy! I slept a little late (not on purpose) and missed church. But, after that, I just cooked myself (and Scout, my dog) breakfast, enjoyed the weather on my screened porch, and literally sat around and lounged all day. It was so nice for a change. I did manage to get some cleaning done (like the dishes), but other than that, it was a lazy day!

Anyway, at some point, after watching all the movies I could stand on Lifetime and ABC Family, and I was trying to get myself motivated to clean, I decided to turn off the TV and turn on my iTunes and jam. Now, if you know me, you know that I am a notorious "microphone singer" and I make a microphone out of random objects whether it be my hand curled into a fist, a hairbrush, a remote control, or whatever. Anyway, I was getting myself motivated to clean and ended up breaking into a "microphone song" and dance, much like the infamous scene from Risky Business...... I was having a good ole time. Scout was out on the porch enjoying a bone, so I had the door open that leads to the porch. (Side note: my porch faces the street and I have houses across the street.) I finished singing and dancing to my song and decided to check on Scout, I went and looked out on the porch only to notice that the neighbors across the street (a lady and her husband) were looking my way. I was instantly embarrassed because I knew they had probably scene my little routine....oh well, not much I can do about it now, I just waved. Now, when I see them, at least they know that I can let loose, maybe they will speak more often! :)

Hope my little embarrassing story helped brighten your day. And if you are laughing at me, it is ok. You aren't the first one, and I sometimes laugh at myself, as I do this little "song and dance" often whether it be at home or in my car...I just can't help it! ;)

Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears...(or at least your armor)

Well, this weekend, I went to Huntsville for Whistlestop to see my brother and his band play. Well, little did I know that it would rain the minute I got there until the minute I left there! Whew, it was a wet weekend! The concert got rained out and the Whistlestop BBQ Festival was canceled on Friday night. Well, my brother decided that he wasn't going to let it get him down because there were lots of people who had come from out of town to see him besides me....

So, Chris and Andrew decided to move their concert to Andrew's loft, which is right downtown a couple of blocks from the original spot. They had to modify their show a bit to be an acoustic set, but it still turned out to be a lot if fun. We ended up having fun there and around the corner at Mason's then back to Andrew's and the roof. We even ended up dragging out Andrew's Roman soldier garb and everyone was taking pictures with it...it ended up being a good time despite the rain and missed concert.

Anyway, I am bummed that it was cold and rainy. I am thankful for my Lucky jeans that I wore (you can read about them in the last post). They came in very, very handy! :)But, other than that, it was a great weekend and a great time spent with family and friends.

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Well, I most certainly would say that I have not become addicted to hitting the snooze button for a whole hour before getting out of bed every weekday morning. And I am definitely not the one who can get up with no alarm clock on weekends! Nope, not me!

I am not the person who said she was not going to go shopping this weekend, and was going to leave her debit card at home, but secretly took it with me because she knew there would be sales! Nope, not me!

I am not the person who didn't realize it was going to be cold and rainy all weekend when I went out of town and wore the same pair of jeans all three days, dressing it up and down with the shoes, shirt and jewelry that I wore. Nope, that surely isn't me!

I am definitely not the one who is now looking up music/lyrics at work to put to a soundtrack of my weekend, and not feeling bad about it...nope, not me!

I am not the one who had so much fun despite the rain Friday night, that I did not go to sleep because I didn't want it to end (and the fact that the only place to sleep was a concrete or wood floor, sans pillow and blanket)....nope, not me!

Not me Monday is a lot of fun! I will have to do this every week! Thanks MckMama!!
