Lots to share

Well, I am finally back! I have lots to share. Quickly, I had my bachelorette party in Atlanta 2 weekends ago. It was pretty uneventful, which is why I am kind of breezing over it. But, here are some of the great gifts that my friends gave me before we went out...

This weekend, E and I went to Little Rock, AR to go see his best friend and his wife. We had a nice lazy weekend. We did go to Riverfest and saw one of our favorite bands, Cross Canadian Ragweed. Here are the two pictures I took from that...

Lastly, E and I ran our first 5k together on Monday! It was the Cotton Row Run in Huntsville, which is a huge run here for Memorial Day! It was really fun! It was so hot and humid! But it has really motivated us to keep going and run more and more! It is really awesome! We are still running! Here is a before the race and a post race picture....

Now, I PROMISE I will post pictures of the fence, garden and swing either later today or tomorrow! They are awesome! Our back yard has really become our oasis and it is so nice. Now, if we could only keep everyone from being so envious and taking our ideas! LOL

Laughter

Laughing is so much fun.
Laughing is contagious.
I LOVE to laugh, I laugh when I hear other people laughing.
Don't you just LOVE to laugh?

Yesterday when E was walking out the door, I said, what should I blog about today? He said, I dunno, write something funny, make me laugh. People, I seriously thought about that all day yesterday. I just couldn't be funny on command. I couldn't think of anything that has happened lately that is funny. Except when running one morning some ducks scared the pee out of me, but you had to be there I think and you have to know my pure hatred to anything that has feathers and flies.
I also thought about how my body is giving me a taste of what it is going to be like to be old. Complete with achy knees, falling asleep at 9 even after an afternoon nap, watching the news in the morning, at noon, and at 5 and 6. It is amusing to me seeing how I am not even half way to 50 just yet. But again, something you just have to see.

So, last night, we were enjoying each other and poking fun, and just laughing. Pure and simple, innocent laughter. We were laughing at each other, with each other and out of love. It was just so much fun. I am SO thankful that I am able to enjoy that. I remember times when I didn't really do much of that. But now, things are so happy, carefree and so full of love! So, E, sorry I didn't write you a funny post, but thanks for making me laugh, laughing at me, and laughing with me! Here is to many more years of it!!

On another note....running is still going great, we are up to 2 miles straight already. It is going well, and it really makes you feel great. Tomorrow, I am SO excited. I get to have lunch with a friend that I knew back in middle school, then she moved to Washington and I haven't seen her since. Well, she is back and it is going to be SO MUCH FUN catching up. I will have to post pictures and let you all know how it goes! It is Wednesday! Which means we are almost at the down side of the week!! Hope you have a great Wednesday and a great rest of the week. Laugh often!

Weekend Update

I seriously can't believe it is Monday again! The weekend went by way too fast! Friday was E's day off. (He works more during the week so he can be off every other Friday). It is great because every other weekend is a three-day weekend for us. However, we don't always have a ton of fun! This Friday, we took advantage of the sunny skies and high temps to work on the fence. When we started, all that was done were the posts set in concrete. We made a trip to Home Depot and got the 2x4s that go cross-ways. We got ALL of those up and then we started on the pickets and the gate. Saturday, we were going to get up again and work on it, but it didn't work, we were just TOO tired! So, we took Saturday off and relaxed a little bit. Sunday, was mother's day. E and I got up early and we prepared lunch. We were cooking a roast and homemade rolls. So, we got all of that ready and then went to church. After church, we ate the yummiest lunch every with my parents and my brother. Then, we came home and got busy on the fence again! We decided to invest in a nail gun instead of using the hammer. Man, it made a HUGE difference! We are almost done with the whole thing. We would have finished yesterday, if we had not run out of pickets! So exciting! We ALMOST have a WHOLE fence and the best part about it is that we have done the whole thing by ourselves. Just the two of us. It is going to be a great accomplishment that we will be proud of when it is finished! It has also been so much fun spending so much time together with no distractions!

On to other things, we are still running and doing well! Even though it was HARD to get up this morning, we did it, and are moving right along! Oh, and I got a call this weekend that MY WEDDING DRESS IS HERE!!! Woo Hoo!! Now, I just have to make an appointment to go have it fitted. Hope you all had a great weekend and have an even better week! Don't forget to keep remembering those in Nashville.

Cinco de Mayo and sore abs

Happy 5th of May! A big day in Mexico and for Americans who need an excuse to eat Mexican food and wear Sombraoros. As silly as that is, that is my excuse for celebrating tonight. I mean who doesn't like an excuse to eat chips and salsa?? I am excited!

Well, as I told you all, E and I started running and have decided that this time next year we are going to be running a half marathon. Well, if you know me, you know I don't really do things in moderation, so not only have we decided to get up at 5 am to run, we are starting to do P90X in the afternoons. I decided to see what it was all about yesterday and did Ab Ripper X. I will tell you that I stayed in the Child's Pose for about 45 minutes after the 15 minute ab workout was over. It was insane. I can't imagine what the rest of the workout is going to be like. But I guess having a great body (ha) is going to pay off. We have also decided to follow the suggested calorie and diet plan, so it is going to be a huge life committment! We will see how it goes. We have about 8 weeks til the wedding, so maybe there will be some significant changes before that! We will see!

Anyway, hope you all have a happy Wednesday! I am going to go try and recover from my iron abs and a run this morning! You will probably find me in the floor in a fetal position. Have a great day!

Concrete Boogers

Ha! Thought you might like that title. Well, E thought I should use that title because he thought it was funny. There is a real explanation for it, and I will get to it, but for now, I am going to apologize, for the millionth time, for being a slacker blogger. I PROMISE (for real this time) that I am going to do better. I am going to work blogging into my schedule during the day, and hopefully keep you up to date more. I do still read all of your blogs, I don't always have time to comment as I am usually reading blogs on the reader on my phone, but I am still reading.

So here are some updates on what has been going on. I will do a list since it will be easier that way.

On the WEDDING, today marks day sixty until the wedding! Time is flying! I have my first shower this weekend at the church I grew up at. I am excited, but kinda nervous, I really don't know how to act! Not to mention, I don't know what to wear!! Things are moving right along. I have my invitations and all I have to do is to address them and send them out! I have the menu picked out. Now all I have to do is figure out what I want read at the wedding and a song for my brother to sing, and some favors!! So, any ideas, would be GREATLY appreciated!

On the HOUSE, E and I have been working hard putting up a fence (wooden privacy fence) for Scout, and to just make our back yard prettier. Let me tell you, this has been a JOB! First, we rented a two-man power auger that digs the holes. He and I dug ALL of the holes for the posts. Friday and Sunday, we mixed cement and put up all of the posts for the fence. Concrete dust is SO messy and gross. The worst part about it is when you breathe it in (you can't help it). It makes your nose feel weird and you get "concrete boogers" (which is where the blog title came from). Nice, I know you really wanted to hear that, but a promise is a promise. Anyway, the posts are set and we are waiting on them to get good and ready before we move on with the fence which will probably be this weekend. We also have three huge azalea plants to plant and E is building us a wooden swing to hang out back! Hopefully that will be done very soon!

On LIFE, E and I decided that we needed to get into better shape. So, we have set a few goals and have decided to get back into running! We started at 5am this morning and are hoping to end our training next year by running the Music City Half Marathon in Nashville. I hope you guys can help keep me accountable! I think it will be a lot of fun! We are hoping to find a 5K to run in France during our honeymoon! We will see what happens! For now, we are enjoying getting up early and running and setting goals together!

Hope you all have a great week and I will definitely be in touch with all of you more! See you soon!

Weekend Recap

Well, I was so busy yesterday (Monday) that I didn't get to catch you all up on my weekend. I pretty much assumed it would be pretty uneventful since I was staying home and not traveling, but I actually got a lot done. I did remember to take a few pictures to document so I wouldn't have a boring post if just words and clip art, but real pictures so you can have some accurate visuals.

I guess I will just start from the very beginning. Friday, I was so excited all day that the weekend was actually upon me, that I couldn't contain my excitement and went to bed by 8:30. Oh well, I guess I was getting myself ready to wake up at 6 am for the Farmer's Market, errands and cleaning all before noon on Saturday! Yes, I woke up by 6 Saturday and decided to go ahead and get things done so I wouldn't waste my day out in the heat! I was at the Farmer's Market by 7 am and it was packed! But I got some fresh lemons and onions and tomatoes and a pineapple and even some homemade treats for Scout. I then went to the grocery to get the rest of the things I needed that I couldn't get there. I bought a book so I would have some entertainment for the weekend, and dropped off some new jeans to be hemmed. They were too long and since I can't grow as my brother suggested, I had to get them to cut off about 5 inches!!

After I was back home (yes, before noon) I did the dishes in the sink so I could get ready to cook and cleaned up the kitchen and the rest of the house. Then, I chopped my onions and tomatoes and grilled some steak to chop so I could have the ingredients to have homemade tacos when I wanted. I also bought some chicken to fix with the tacos but I decided to wait until I ran out of the steak to fix the chicken! I decided to take a nap (I did this a few times this weekend) and when I woke up I read a bit. Then it was time for dinner and I ended up making tacos for dinner. I then decided that since it was Saturday night and I was by myself I would make sure that everyone else in the neighborhood knew what a loser I was, and I went for a run. Now, I live in a "trendy" type neighborhood with a few restaurants/bars that have lots of al fresco dining. Of course, my running route takes me right past all of these nice lovely dining patrons (mostly young couples) and made myself look like a loser. Of well, at least I will be the loser who is in shape and not the one with the extra 10 pounds of guacamole dip sitting on my hips. After I was home and showered, the TV miraculously ended up on MTV and I ended up getting stuck on watching the most ridiculous show ever: "Sixteen and Pregnant." I am so ashamed to even admit that I sat there and watched as many episodes as I did (it was a marathon getting ready for the season finale on Thursday). By the time I couldn't take it anymore (or the marathon stopped, I can't remember which) It was after 11 and I decided to go to bed.

Sunday, I got up and was so lazy!! I woke up early, ate fruit and made and iced chai for breakfast, and then went back to sleep! I ate tacos for lunch, and got some supplies for my picture hanging project and then read and fell back to sleep again. By the time I woke up, it was time to start thinking about the awesome dinner I was about to fix and also see what I could do about the said picture hanging experiment. The pictures were hung, and they look great (especially after hanging for a few days). And then I started on my awesome dinner of Chicken Scallopine that I got from Pioneer Woman. After that, I was absolutely exhausted and decided to read a little more and fall asleep. Did I mention that I had to charge my phone almost twice everyday because I was on it so much?? As you can see, it was an eventful weekend even though I was stuck here and didn't get to travel. I guess those are the necessary evils of life. Hope you all have a great week!
